Author, filmmaker, and philanthropist Rich Tola has been passionate about fitness for more than 30 years, spending the past seven years incorporating yoga into his everyday life. A former Wall Street Junk Bond Salesman turned actor/filmmaker with a desire to change the world, Rich has worked in all aspects of entertainment including feature films, commercials, primetime television and theater. He began his Hollywood career in New York City in 2006, and has been a Screen Actors Guild member since 2009. Upon completion of his film, Boulevard Zen, Rich founded The Boulevard Zen Foundation to teach the benefits of yoga to women and children living in domestic violence shelters. His colorful memoirs, Simply Between Millions: From Wall Street to Hollywood, are fun and inspirational and sure to entertain teenage and adult audiences everywhere.
From humble beginnings in Trenton, New Jersey, Rich played baseball and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) and received his MBA from Northwestern University (Kellogg). Before moving to Hollywood in 2007, Rich worked on Wall Street, traveled the world as an International Finance Consultant, founded an Internet company, and worked in Real Estate brokerage and inner-city property re-development. While living in NYC in 2005, Rich tried yoga and was hooked. Eighteen months later he moved West where he made his film, Boulevard Zen, the inspiration for his charity. By teaching total body awareness and self-respect, The Boulevard Zen Foundation empowers women and children to embrace a daily fitness program and a lifestyle that’s based on yoga principles. Rich’s “anybody can do it” positive and precise teaching style reinforce his belief that anything is possible if you set your sights and try.
Rich has spent over 12,000 hours training in gyms and health clubs around the world, and has taught more than 15,000 yoga students since becoming a 200-hour Certified Teacher. His unique, yoga-based, low-impact workouts are for anyone regardless of size, weight, age, or gender. His trademark mantra, Strong Body-Clear Mind, is the basis for his teachings. Rich also founded Two Strike Hitter, the production company behind Boulevard Zen, Rich Tola’s Yoga Survival Guide, and Rich Tola’s 15 Minute Fat Burning Workouts. 10% of all DVD and book sales are donated to the foundation.
